Spotlight: Amphora Winery

Rick Hutchinson operates Amphora Winery at the top of one of the most picturesque areas in the Dry Creek Valley. His experience in the industry spans several years where he served as winemaker for Quivera and other notable wineries before creating his own wines.
The primary varietals sold at Amphora are Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah and Syrah. Rick's assistant Lana Mounts helps in managing the sales at the winery where Rick offers Futures and has established a wine club called Kottabos.

Rick's serious pastime is in the art of pottery making. Examples of Rick's original work may be seen at his web site www.amphorawines.com. The true "Amphorae" was a clay wine vessel of the ancient Mediterranean people and was the used as the container for final wine fermentation, and the term Kottabos refers to a unique drinking game that was embraced ancient Greeks and endured for over three centuries.
